One unfillable role, one blocked product line
Infinity Machine & Engineering builds automated packaging machinery for the tissue paper industry. Founded in 2004, they run full service operations in Green Bay, Wisconsin and Bologna, Italy, producing multi pack and single roll wrappers, casepackers, poly bundlers and warehouse automation systems.
They were replacing the software their business ran on, and one critical software engineering role would not fill. It was not a staffing inconvenience. That single gap was holding back the launch of a new product.
So they stopped trying to hire the person and brought in the function instead.
What we built first was not software
A dedicated team started full time in August 2024. The opening work was not features. It was the way work would get done: a new project management system, training on agile methods for the existing staff, and a development process where there had not been one before.
Then came the product, a React based admin platform. Then the permanent structure, with engineers recruited, employed and equipped so the capability stayed inside the business after the senior team stepped back.
Five dedicated specialists are still building features alongside them today.
What changed
If this sounds familiar
When one unfilled role is blocking a product, hiring for it is the slowest fix available. A team that arrives with its own process, builds the thing, and then hands over people it recruited and employs will get you there faster. On these numbers, it also costs less than the search you are currently running.
